Losing Fat Update #1

I finally get back to providing an update. It took longer than I expected due to work, coaching and paying attention to this diet keeping me busy. So there are some things that I am learning about myself this time around. First of all, anyone that knows me well know that the staple food that I love the most is rice. I love all kinds of rice. White rice, brown rice, fried rice, basmati .. If it’s rice I will eat it. Now considering this diet is based on reducing my carb intake that pretty much includes no rice 🙁 . Except on my cheat my day. So in the first week on my cheat day I ate Chinese food with fried rice AND white rice. Also had some cold stone creamery ice cream (another addiction of mine) to top it off that evening. Add some beer to that mix and I was caught up on just about everything I missed. This resulted in a full stomach and a lot of discomfort. Fortunately for me that is what the cheat day is supposed to be for. The week before I was urinating (peeing) darn near every hour or so. Apparently this is because the carbs and sugar were being removed from my system. This resulted in my reading a lot more about what was happening inside of my body. I learned plenty about decreasing blood sugar levels, what causes heart disease and diabetes. I watched a really good documentary called “Fat Head” by Tom Naughton, a guy who lost weight eating fast food for 28 days straight by removing the carbs from his meals. I learned what they use to fatten pigs for the slaughter. The contents of hog feed include corn, sugar and grain. How about that .. That’s all the stuff I removed from my diet. It reminded me of when I used to go down south as a kid to visit my grandmother and the people who owned pigs would have corn cobs in the slop that they fed them. I’m sure I have relatives that can expand on that concept. So without any sweat or real exercise and 2 cheat days that included ice cream, beer, a couple of alcoholic beverages, pizza and beef lo mien these are my results from the first two weeks:
Week 1:
Weight: 226 lbs.
Body fat: 25%
Total inches: 155.4
Week 2:
Weight: 221.5 lbs.
Body fat: 27%*
Total inches: 154.5
So you may have noticed that my body fat % went up. Actually it didn’t. I changed the way I measure my body fat using an app on my phone instead of a body fat measuring tool (caliper) because it was easier. The app is supposed to be more accurate. The good news is:
I lost 8.5 lbs and 1 inch (on my legs) in two weeks!!
At this rate I should reach my goal. I’m curious about what you guys know about carbs adding to body fat? Any suggestions?

The nutrition plan that my trainer gave me eliminates carbs coming from refined/processed sources like white bread and white rice. It does allow for multigrain breads, brown rice, and unprocessed carbs.
Could be different for me because I’m incorporating weight training. My body has been undergoing a process known as recompositioning (i.e., replacing fat with muscle). Scale didn’t move much, but I did go down a whole jean size. Now the scale is moving, too!

I believe your diet accounts for the working out. Im testing out this one with little to no exercise.
Congratulations on the loss though!
