Growing with Pleasure: How to feel good..
I have a couple of guilty pleasures including but not limited to television shows and Facebook. When I have time I watch a lot of different kinds of television shows. I record them on my dvr and binge on them when I get an opportunity. While I feel that some of these shows are detrimental to my brain as well as any children that may be watching them , they are funny as heck sometimes. Watching someone fall into a obstacle on American Ninja Warrior or Wipeout, the auditions of America’s Got Talent or So You Think You Can Dance or the grown people acting like adolescents on countless other reality shows amuses me from time to time. The pet trick videos, the drug addict who can sing like Aretha Franklin or Luther Vandross and even the made up videos that people cobble together on their own sometimes put a smile on my face. I wonder sometimes how is it that we can find other peoples misfortune or even their unfortunate circumstance, that they may not even deem unfortunate, something that’s funny. Is it looking at the bright side of a dark situation or is it us desensitizing ourselves to other people’s misfortune? I also have other things that bring me pleasure like peanut butter trail mix (don’t judge me), music, good food, and even adventurous stuff like repelling and soon enough jumping out of a plane. What are some things that bring you pleasure? How do you feel about them?
