Losing Fat: Update #2 The Results Are In

So I am back with the end results. First of all, let me start off by thanking everyone who reads this blog for your encouragement and support through this process. While I have been busy I have learned that there are certain things that come with this change in diet to lose weight. Midway through week three I discovered that one of the supplements that I was taking was having a negative effect on my skin. This is probably due to the fact that I have skin problems to begin with. I continued to take it through the end of the month but I wont anymore. Something else that comes along with a high protein, low carb diet is some constipation. I would go to the bathroom daily but there were times when it was not an easy feat. I later learned that the way around that is to drink A LOT of water and don’t slack on eating beans.   I added the practice of Intermittent fasting which required me to fast for 18 hours after my cheat day. Surprisingly I was not hungry because I had eaten so much the day before. So here are the final weeks of my weight loss experiment:

Week 3:

Weight: 218 lbs.

Body fat: 28%

Total inches(waist+arms+thighs+hips): 155.6

Week 4:

Weight: 214.5 lbs.

Body fat: 28%

Total inches(waist+arms+thighs+hips): 153.3

Week 5:

Weight: 211.5 lbs.

Body fat: 25.8%

Total inches(waist+arms+thighs+hips): 153.3

I was frustrated for some weeks because I felt like I was losing pounds but not inches. That is why I posted the 5th week because at that point not only did I lose weight but my body fat% went down due to changes in my total inches. Less weight and less changes in inches meant more muscle. So this time I lost weight but did not lose any muscle which was one of my goals. My pant and shirt s both went back down a size and I can fit back in the stuff I wore at my lowest weight I had gotten to the first time I lost weight. This time I don’t look sick 🙂 .. I just look a little smaller. In a total of five weeks I lost 18.5 lbs, dropped 2.2% body fat and lost 2.3 inches( which is on my waist and hips). Take a look here to see what I did to celebrate. So in my opinion, cutting the carbs, eating more protein and eating like a maniac on my cheat day works for me. For those women who will say that works for men, I know a female who did this diet as well and did not lose a pound in a month.. But she did go down one pants size. So everyone’s body works differently. My next stop is adding more muscle. Anyone have any suggestions for that

Great work Paul! Now, we’ll need a follow-up report on how you maintained those stats while on vacation!!

And regrading drinking water, whenever I have a complaint my doctor’s response is usually, you need to drink more water. It is the cure for whatever ails you.

Bon Voyage 🙂
