Growing through Flow: 6 ways to know you are in the zone

The funny part is I never did finish that program, I ended up buying software that did the same thing. And yet I enjoyed the process of creating the one I didn’t use so much. So what did I enjoy about is so much? It was the actual creative process. It was doing something that I enjoyed that caused me to lose track of time and space. There is a Hungarian professor of psychology by the name of Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, he’s the guy that bears a resemblance to Santa Clause without the full beard in the picture for this post, who labeled this process Flow. Flow is being in the zone so to speak. He stated that there are six elements of an activity that let you know you are in a state of flow:
- You are focused on the present moment.. You are not thinking about anything else other than what you are doing at that time
- You are very aware of every step that you are taking in the process while you are doing it
- You have no doubt in your mind that you cannot succeed at what you are doing
- You are not thinking about any thing that you may feel could stop you from doing what you are doing
- You lose track of time
- Completing the task is enough to make you happy about it
What are the things that put you in a state of flow and how often do you do them?
